Legendary Catfish Cakes


Transform your catfish leftovers or just make them into cakes from the get-go. This buttery seafood dish will have your mouth watering and you telling your boy to go catch you some more!


  • 1 pound catfish fillets
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon mayo
  • 1/2 tablespoon Old Bay Seasoning
  • 2 1/2 cups coarsely crushed Ritz Crackers or panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Salt and Pepper


  1. Season catfish fillets with salt and black pepper.
  2. Place fillets on an oiled rack in a roaster pan; bake until cooked through (about 10 minutes). Let cool.
  3. Crumble fillets into a large bowl. Add mayo, onion, mustard, black pepper, Old Bay seasoning, egg, and Ritz crackers; mix well.
  4. Form mixture into 6 cakes; cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  5. In a skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Fry until golden brown (about 2 to 3 minutes on each side).
  6. Serve hot.
